Quick Facts:

How long is the program?

1 year, starting and ending in July.

How much does it cost?

$3,180 for the first term (VirtCamp) and $6,870 for each of the following three terms(Fall 2005, Spring 2006, Summer 2006). You will also be responsible for purchasing a laptop and assorted other technology. There will also be some travel expense for one or more of the face to face sessions.

Is the program all online?

Almost - But we think that face to face contact is an important - critical, even - part of this program. Most of the coursework is done online, with three face to face sessions:

  • VirtCamp - This is the orientation to the program and an important chance to "be real before being virtual". Getting to know your cadre helps jump-start the community that this program relies on. VirtCamp is in Malibu, CA, and lasts 5 days.

  • Midpoint - The midpoint meeting gives everyone a chance to reconnect and plan for the second half of the year. It is held at a national education conference. In the past, locations have included Austin, TX, and Orlando, FL. The midpoint meeting lasts 5 days, usually a Wed. - Sun.

  • Exhibitions - This culminating experience finishes the year with an opportunity to share research and experience graduation on the Mailbu campus, overlooking the Pacific. Exhibitions also lasts approximately 5 days.

Do I have to write a thesis?

This program focuses on a year long Action Research Project (ARP), which emphasizes the application of research to your working environment to create a positive change. This allows students to make many connections between what they are learning and what they do in the workplace throughout the year. This interaction between school and work has benefits for both learning and work environments.

Do I have to take the GRE?

No - You can read more about the specific admission requirements on the official Pepperdine web site
